Medicaid Pays Family Members

Relative Care (Paid Family Caregiver)

Keep care in the family — and get paid for it.

Did you know that Colorado Medicaid allows certain family members to be paid to care for their loved ones? Through the Consumer Directed Attendant Support Services (CDASS) model and other HCBS waiver options, eligible relatives can become certified paid caregivers.

Who This Service Is For

Colorado Medicaid recipients who wish to have a family member serve as their paid caregiver. The client must be enrolled in an HCBS waiver program, and the relative must be approved through the program.

Important: Parents of minor children and spouses are generally not eligible under most waivers. Ask our intake team about your specific situation.
